ChatGPT chief asks to be regulated, but does he mean it?

The boss OpenAI, creator of the chatbot, has called for regulation of his own product, but the current discussions are being dominated by those with vested interests, and that is dangerous.

Last week, we were treated to the latest round of the US Senate grappling with worrying advances in tech, as Senators quizzed OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and two other expert witnesses about the dangers and need for guardrails around generative AI.

Altman, whose company created ChatGPT, set educated minds racing by calling for regulation of his own product.
