Byron Bay-based $50m climate tech fund seeks to save the world

A venture capital firm run from Byron Bay by a former Macquarie Bank and UBS banker has finalised the first close of a new $US50 million ($66.4 million) fund, aimed at backing ambitious companies at home and overseas that can ride the wave of global enthusiasm for climate tech.

ReGen Ventures is run by former investment banker and hedge fund manager, Dan Fitzgerald, who began investing in climate technology a decade ago as an angel investor. It has received backing from unnamed family offices, high net worth individuals and former start-up founders who have made their fortunes.
