Billion-dollar NYSE firm buys out Smorgon’s tech firm

Transpire, a Melbourne-based technology consulting firm co-founded by steel industry scion Luke Smorgon, has been bought out by $US1.9 billion valued New York Stock Exchange-listed company CI&T in a deal worth $US16.4 million ($23.4 million).

Under the deal, which was officially signed on Wednesday morning Australian time, the Brazil-based company will take on 90 staff across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Transpire co-founder and chief executive Josh Guest will remain with the company following the expected completion of the transaction later this year.
