Appen faces a battle to restore investor confidence after New Jersey-based Innodata abandoned its $154 million bid for the ASX-listed target citing a breach of confidentiality.

Cyan Investment Management’s Dean Fergie said from an outsider’s perspective, Appen had a “massive reputation issue” to resolve based on its performance over the past few years.
