Airwallex local losses deepen despite global boom

Airwallex, one of Australia’s biggest private technology companies, has booked deeper local losses for last year after spending big to sponsor a Formula 1 team and suffering higher foreign exchange costs.

The heavily backed start-up makes most of its money overseas and lodges its books in the secretive Cayman Islands, so the Australian numbers are the only chance to gauge any aspects of its performance, until it makes good on initial public offering promises.
