Healthscope lays the groundwork for not-for-profit status

Australia’s second-largest private hospital operator, Healthscope, is forging ahead with its ambitious plans to turn itself into a charitable organisation as bidders circle its sprawling network.

Street Talk understands the hospital operator, which collapsed into administration in May with $1.6 billion in debt, has got the ball rolling on becoming a not-for-profit company, actively pulling together a proposal to put in front of its 30-plus lenders.
