Platinum’s suitors lurk ahead of testy AGM

Investors requiring further evidence that Wilson Asset Management is giving serious thought to a deal with the $681 million Platinum Asset Management need look no further. Street Talk’s got the goods.

Sources told this column that WAM has requested access to Platinum Asset Management’s data room, while setting up one of its own. The two camps have held a couple of meetings, but it’s unclear how far the reverse due diligence has progressed – if at all – or if it would culminate in a firm proposal. WAM is looking at Platinum as sole bidder, the sources said.
