After a frenetic bidding war between buyout firms, The Carlyle Group emerged as the new owner of Waste Services Group, a billion-dollar recycling and collections business that had been owned by buyout group Livingbridge.

At around $1.2 billion, the sale of Waste Services will easily be the London-headquartered firm’s biggest exit in Australia to date. And now that Carlyle has secured Waste Services, it has turned its mind to how to finance its big new investment.
