It's been a frustrating year for Patrick Grove, Australia's most successful entrepreneur in south-east Asia.

The former Sydneysider's wealth is up 4 per cent to $885 million on the 2019 Financial Review Rich List, published this Friday, but he fell 17 places to 105th as other young technology turks like the Atlassian founders made more.
