In 2017, the Sydney Swans were forced to respond to an online petition urging the AFL club to stop blaring Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline during quarter-time breaks.

“We’re aware of the petition and the views of some fans, however Sweet Caroline is a fan favourite for many others,” the Bloods retorted at the time, and the tune continues to haunt the Sydney Cricket Ground to this day.
