The bifurcation of the $28 billion Forrest family fortune, revealed last week by my colleagues Peter Ker and Brad Thompson, had the tragic effect of dethroning Fortescue’s executive chairman Andrew Forrest from atop the Financial Review Rich Bosses list. As far as exalted honours go, losing this one will leave an ugly rectangle of unfaded paint on the pool room wall at Cottesloe beside Twiggy’s knighthood of the Gabonese Republic and his key to Windsor Castle.
Forrest has been abruptly supplanted as Australia’s richest boss by WiseTech co-founder Richard White.
