One of the many comforting perks of being a former prime minister is comping the running of a private office. First comes scoring the real estate.

Malcolm Turnbull is in Sydney’s Governor Phillip Tower (which he coincidentally also came up through in the Goldman Sachs heyday). John Howard and Tony Abbott are in the same building in Martin Place. Paul Keating’s agony aunt letters originate in a leafy corner of Potts Point.
