Path to Cats presidency goes through Boston Consulting Group

Critics have labelled Geelong a “boys’ club”. But the board of the Geelong Football Club has tended to draw from an even narrower pool.

When Boston Consulting Group’s Australian chief Grant McCabe was last month announced as the incoming president of the Geelong Football Club, the club’s long-serving deputy president quit in protest.

After no fewer than 14 years on the board, five as vice-president, Geelong lawyer Diana Taylor had hoped for the top job. But McCabe won out. Taylor resigned and told everyone why she did so, sparking a predictable debate about sexism in AFL clubs.
