When Boston Consulting Group’s Australian chief Grant McCabe was last month announced as the incoming president of the Geelong Football Club, the club’s long-serving deputy president quit in protest.

After no fewer than 14 years on the board, five as vice-president, Geelong lawyer Diana Taylor had hoped for the top job. But McCabe won out. Taylor resigned and told everyone why she did so, sparking a predictable debate about sexism in AFL clubs.
