Eyebrows were raised across Melbourne’s gossipy arts scene recently when rising National Gallery of Victoria senior Indigenous curator Myles Russell-Cook announced his departure to take up a position at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art.
As of next month, he’ll be that organisation’s chief executive and artistic director. And as the announcement made clear, he’s the force behind the recently announced coup that is the largest travelling exhibition of First People’s art to depart Australia, next year’s The Stars We Do Not See.
