Will GlasgowReporterRetiring Rio Tinto chief Sam Walsh's claim on the title of Perth's favourite son has taken a severe battering this week as his giant miner tried to squeeze its suppliers by paying them less frequently.
The reliably parochial West Australian newspaper even turned on Walsh – which we understand was at the personal request of Walsh's old mate, Seven West Media chairman Kerry Stokes.
