Holgate’s comeback tour takes in Nats party room
Myriam RobinRear Window editorAmid this week’s parliamentary sittings, Team Global Express boss Christine Holgate has been invited to pitch the Nationals party room on her plan to open up Australia Post’s regional parcel deliveries to commercial competition.
This is all part of the Allegro Funds-owned delivery company’s plan to extend its parcels business into regional Australia. Not by actually expanding to regional Australia, but by having Australia Post (which Holgate used to run) open up its last-mile delivery infrastructure to private operators for a measly $2 a pop, $1.86 of which will be paid to the local licensed post office (leaving Post with a profit of merely 14¢ per parcel).
