In regional Queensland, the residents of Bundaberg face a new challenge in the cost-of-living crisis. Local farmer-turned-fallen business star Lex Greensill’s family has started charging them to use the green waste disposal site it set up in mid-2021.

Known as Green Solutions Wide Bay, the site is not so much a tip as a temple to environmentally friendly waste disposal. It takes in truckloads of green waste (abundant in horticulture-heavy Rum City) and processes it into compost and mulch.
