Michael RoddanNational correspondentIt’s been nine months since former AFL boss Andrew Demetriou resigned from the board of Crown Resorts in what he remarked was “not an easy decision”, and one that he had “thought carefully about”.
Which is an odd way to assert agency in a decision where he had little. Some 19 pages of Patricia Bergin’s 750-page report for the NSW Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority was devoted to reasons why it “would be justified in lacking confidence” in him.
