Dutton left ‘very serious’ cyclone area for Hemmes’ Sydney mansion

The opposition leader said people wanted the prime minister “governing, not campaigning” as Queensland braced for Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

On Tuesday night, hospitality entrepreneur Justin Hemmes opened his stunning Sydney harbourside mansion for Peter Dutton, tapping his wealthy friends for donations to the opposition leader’s electoral effort.

Dutton was the star guest at Hemmes’ Hermitage sandstone, which has a beautiful perch in Vaucluse. The rest of the invitee list remains all very hush-hush, as it was quite a small gathering.
