The City of Sydney, led for nearly two decades by spectacularly popular Lord Mayor Clover Moore, makes much of its green, sustainable credentials.
The capstone achievement in that regard must be the council’s declaration, in July 2020, that it had made what its website still headlines as “the switch to 100 per cent renewable energy”. A fact Moore has made much of, including last month, when she cited the fact that the city was “powered by 100 per cent renewable electricity” as the first of 17 key achievements over 17 years in office.
