The multi-decade shambles in the traditional news business shows little sign of sorting itself out. And while attention is focused on ABC News, News Corp and Nine Entertainment (our publisher), at the local end, things couldn’t be more dire.

Consider Antony Catalano and Alex Waislitz whose foray into newspapers is fading fast. Last month, they were trying to flog 14 storied titles such as the Newcastle Herald, The Land and The Canberra Times to Southern Cross Austereo.
