Bank of Queensland? More like Bank of Sydney

BoQ was launched 148 years ago and its headquarters is in Brisbane. Almost a third of its loans come from Queensland. But guess how many directors live there?

One of the odder moments in this week’s Bank of Queensland annual shareholder meeting wasn’t the Bikram-level logical contortions the board deployed to explain why it sent George Frazis to the chief executive knackery only weeks after recommending that he get a potential $3 million bonus package.

No, the weird thing was the passing mention from two directors up for re-election, Karen Penrose and Warwick Negus, about frequently travelling to or visiting Brisbane.
