Athenaeum Club’s salami tactics trouble gender truce
Myriam RobinRear Window editorIt’s been almost two years since a survey found younger members of Melbourne’s Athenaeum Club broadly opposed to opening the club to women.
In the aftermath, in which a recording of an hour-long meeting discussing the survey was leaked to The Age, then-incoming president Peter Brannighan resolved to keep female membership off the agenda for the next four years.
