Sydney, Melbourne prices to hit new highs by April

"Super Saturday" auction sales are putting Melbourne and Sydney property prices on course for record highs in the next six months, while Canberra and Hobart are already at new peaks.

Around 2300 auctions are expected across the nation this weekend, including an increase of 45 per cent in Melbourne, where prices are making the biggest gains in a decade as buyers return to the market after the racing long weekend.
