Second wind for regional housing markets as exodus resumes
High costs of living and soaring house prices are fuelling another wave of regional migration, experts say.
Expatriate Christian Cuneo loves Sydney and considered buying a home there after deciding to move back to Australia last year. But he changed his mind after considering what he wanted from his home – and the city’s soaring house prices.
“I had a look around Sydney, but realised how expensive house prices were, and when I saw what I could get in Newcastle, I decided to buy there instead,” he tells AFR Weekend.
