As policymakers, politicians and parents grapple with the problem of housing the poor, young and marginalised, RMIT University academics are reaching back to 1917 solutions.

In response to Australia’s housing shortage, the Centre for Urban Research at the Melbourne institution proposes forced sales of houses and apartments that are vacant for more than nine months a year.
