‘We will go hard’: Palaszczuk says lockdown still possible

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has held fire on declaring a lockdown in Brisbane on the eve of the NRL grand final long weekend after the state recorded two new local coronavirus cases on Friday but no unlinked community transmission.

As critics accused her of avoiding a snap lockdown to ensure the National Rugby League grand final could go ahead in Brisbane on Sunday, Ms Palaszczuk said she would not hesitate to pull the trigger if advised to do so by Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young.
