‘We’re not moving’: Lismore mayor vows to keep CBD on flood plain
The mayor of Lismore, a NSW town devastated by deadly floods in March, is urging the region’s residents to take advantage of a pioneering $800 million land buyback and relocation program even as he vows not to move the town’s historic CBD.
The mayor and small business owner detailed the impact that two waves of deadly flooding to hit the town in February and March had on the region and the hurdles it faced in the reconstruction effort.
