Apartment buildings of up to six storeys, terraces and townhouses will be encouraged around 171 suburbs in NSW, with Sydney’s North Shore – including Willoughby, Mosman, Roseville and Pymble – most affected by the changes.
The Minns’ government’s new policy aims to deliver 112,000 new homes by overriding council restrictions to allow terraces, townhouses and low-rise residential flats in areas currently zoned R1 or R2 and medium-rise apartments on R3- and R4-zoned land within 800 metres or 10 minutes walk of town centres and stations.
