Soorley says he wasn't lobbying when he contacted minister

ALP veteran Jim Soorley says he was conducting “commercial research” for a restaurant that paid him $2500 when he contacted Transport Minister Mark Bailey, but denies it constituted lobbying.

Mr Soorley, barred from being a lobbyist at the time, has admitted in a legal defence that he contacted the minister in 2018.
