‘Serious flaws’ in plans for new corruption body
Two main issues of concern have emerged over the proposed National Anti-Corruption Commission, with key advocates warning the “exceptional circumstances” threshold for public hearings and the composition of an oversight committee are “serious flaws”.
Leaders of Transparency International Australia (TIA) and the Centre for Public Integrity say that unless rectified, the issues could hamper a principal aim of the NACC, the restoration of public trust.
