Almost half of Queenslanders support reducing coal royalties to encourage big miners such as BHP to invest in future projects in the state, new polling shows.
The Freshwater Strategy poll, conducted exclusively for The Australian Financial Review, also found that 38 per cent of people believed the mining, gas and agricultural industries were responsible for last month’s state budget delivering a record $12 billion surplus.
