Queensland braces for thousands of COVID-19 cases after border surge

Queensland has recorded its highest daily COVID-19 figures since the start of the pandemic as the government warned there would be “thousands” of cases by next month.

While the Palaszczuk government has spent the past two years pursuing a COVID-19 elimination strategy and strict border policy, the reopening of borders with NSW and Victoria last week in time for Christmas has resulted in an inevitable surge in cases.
