The Liberal National Party’s landslide victory at the Queensland state election has sparked a vicious row between Labor and the Greens, with the Albanese government declaring the minor party was paying the price for its militancy, and its three federal seats in Queensland were now fair game.
The government also faces a rethink on the cost-of-living assistance it will take to the federal election after many of the $33 billion in measures promised by Steven Miles’ government had little effect in a state that is critical to Anthony Albanese’s re-election prospects.
