David Crisafulli has ended almost a decade of Labor rule in Queensland and will be the state’s next premier after leading the Liberal-National opposition to a smaller-than-expected win over rival Steven Miles.
A late flow of postal and pre-poll votes allowed Mr Crisafulli to hold off a surge from Labor late in the campaign, as the LNP prised a number of regional seats from the state government.
