One Nation’s absence in marginals a possible boost for Coalition

One Nation’s failure to field candidates in a clutch of marginal NSW seats could bolster the Coalition’s chances of another term, as the election race narrows to a question of preferences and crossbench support.

The party headed by Mark Latham in NSW was on track to secure more than one in every six votes in Goulburn and had picked up a swing of more than 7 per cent in Riverstone, as voters angry over cost-of-living issues and service delivery deserted the majors for Pauline Hanson’s minor party.
