Big spending and promises by the major parties to woo voters ahead of the NSW state election – including a combined $22 billion in headline commitments – will work against the Reserve Bank’s efforts to curb inflation, economists warn.
NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet’s Coalition government has announced more than $6.6 billion in both new spending commitments and existing budget allocations. The Coalition has touted it is spending $7.2 billion in cost-of-living sweeteners.
