Mark Speakman elected leader of the NSW Liberals, promising renewal
Former NSW attorney-general Mark Speakman has been elected as NSW Opposition Leader, promising a renewed focus on winning over young voters, women and a more diverse section of the community to regain power.
Mr Speakman, a Cambridge-educated barrister and senior counsel who comes from the Liberals’ moderate faction, won the leadership in a party room ballot on Friday 22 votes to 13 against former planning minister Anthony Roberts.
