Victorian Labor MP Ben Carroll has been canvassing support in the event of an early exit by Premier Daniel Andrews, amid a shake-up of the Labor factions and a potential challenge to Deputy Premier Jacinta Allan as next premier of Victoria, according to multiple sources.

Mr Andrews insists he will serve another full term until the next state election in 2026, but sources inside the party said most Labor MPs expected him to leave by the end of the year or early next year.
