Former Treasury chief accuses NSW auditor of throwing ‘grenade’
The NSW Auditor-General has been accused by former Treasury secretary Mike Pratt of “throwing a hand grenade into the room and closing the door”, in further fiery testimony before the state’s parliamentary accountability committee.
The committee has been looking at the establishment and accounting of the Transport Asset Holding Entity (TAHE), a new agency to better manage NSW’s $20 billion of heavy rail assets. A recent report by Auditor-General Margaret Crawford was highly critical of Treasury “errors” and delays getting key information.
