Before he was a Liberal MP and Immigration Minister, David Coleman played a small role in helping Australia's move online and into the 21st century.
Back in the 1990s, as the nation opened OzEmail accounts, logged onto Yahoo.com and started reading news online, Coleman was a business development specialist at McKinsey & Co. Within a decade, he was a strategy director for Kerry Packer's PBL Media division and by 2012 he was chairman of ninemsn, a joint venture between Nine – now the owner of AFR Weekend — and technology giant Microsoft.
