In the hours after Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for the White House this week, more than 330,000 people flocked to a US government website offering tips on registering to vote.

“I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice,” the pop superstar wrote to her 283 million Instagram followers, pointing them towards the vote.gov site.
