It’s a tale of one city and three parties. While NSW and Melbourne have been the major battlegrounds of the election campaign, it is Brisbane that perhaps offers the best barometer to political fortunes as the votes are counted on Saturday night.
The seat of Brisbane (held by the Greens on a 3.7 per cent margin) takes in the business district, the city’s sporting cathedral of Lang Park, the gentrifying grittiness of Fortitude Valley, universities and light industry, grand riverside homes, rented apartments and mortgage belt suburbs.
