What the PM’s Indonesian entourage says about his second term priorities

The first time Anthony Albanese travelled to Indonesia as prime minister in June 2022, he was accompanied by Australia’s first Muslim cabinet minister Ed Husic, who just two weeks earlier had been sworn in on a Koran.

Husic attended in his official capacity as Industry Minister, but his inclusion was viewed as an important signal to the world’s largest Muslim democracy and a display of the modern face of Australia. It was a point Husic alluded to when he returned from the trip.
