Labor has cruised to an emphatic election victory in Western Australia as voters delivered Premier Roger Cook his own strong mandate and dashed Liberal hopes of making significant ground against the government.

With more than 40 per cent of votes counted late on Saturday, WA Labor was on track to record its second-greatest election result in history, behind only the pandemic-inspired landslide of 2021.
