Victorians who tested positive in NSW linked to Thai restaurant

Two Victorians who tested positive to the coronavirus after visiting NSW over the New Year's period have been linked to a cluster surrounding a Thai restaurant in Melbourne.

The number of infections linked to the Smile Buffalo restaurant in Black Rock in the city's south-east now stands at 10. All either ate at the venue on Monday, December 21 or are close contacts of diners who did.

The two cases were revealed by NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian on Friday morning, as they had visited NSW's far south coast and undergone testing for the coronavirus in NSW before returning to Victoria.

The pair visited the Great Southern Hotel in Eden from 5pm-6:30pm on Wednesday, December 30 and Bermi's Beachside Cafe in Bermagui from 9am-10am on Thursday, December 31.

Anyone who visited the venues at those times is urged to get tested for the coronavirus and self-isolate until advised otherwise by NSW Health.

NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said earlier on Friday that NSW was working with Victoria, but would leave it to them to reveal more details about the two cases.

A person who had travelled to Sydney and was suspected of passing the virus to the two Victorians has tested negative, Dr Chant said.
