Unions lose challenge to Labor power amid fresh corruption claims

Former Victorian cabinet minister Marlene Kairouz and a coalition of powerful unions have both lost their court challenge to overturn the Labor Party’s federal takeover of the Victorian arm following branch stacking allegations.

The decision is a victory for both Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and federal Labor leader Anthony Albanese – who is sticking by MP Anthony Byrne despite admissions he used taxpayer-funded staff to help branch stack.
