Treasurer Jim Chalmers will escalate his push to pare back the stage three tax cuts in the October 25 budget by revealing on Friday the immediate cost blowouts facing the government in the five biggest areas of expenditure.
The forecasts, which are similar to the growth numbers that were public before the election when Labor was supporting the tax cuts, show the National Disability Insurance Scheme, which last year was forecast to cost $60 billion a year by 2030, will continue to grow at above 12 per cent a year for the next four years.
