The cost of a generalist university degree in law, economics or history will broach the $50,000 mark in 2025, prompting one expert to warn more students in a raft of arts, humanities and social sciences will never pay off their top-dollar degrees.
New rates determining the amount the federal government and students contribute each year for courses reveal most arts and law degrees will hit $17,000 a year. Across a standard three-year bachelor degree, that is $38,000 more than students of teaching, maths and agriculture, who are required to pay $4627 a year.
