Greens leader Adam Bandt set to lose his seat of Melbourne

The Greens will likely need a new leader with senators Sarah Hanson-Young and Mehreen Faruqi the favourites to battle it out in the shrunken party room after leader Adam Bandt was projected to lose his seat.

Bandt suffered a shock 8.3 per cent swing against him on election day and became the minor party’s latest casualty after two seats were lost in Brisbane and potential gains in Melbourne and northern NSW failed to materialise.
